"What conservationists have said from the beginning is that this world, and all its treasures, is finite. Treat it right and you will live. Squander and plunder and rape and you will someday suffer." - WOC founder Tom Bell
Programs - Coalbed Methane - How You Can Help
The best way you can help is to get involved in the
National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process to demand
that impacts are fully disclosed, studied and mitigated
for specific CBM projects.
Specifically, some NEPA planning documents involving CBM are due to be released in 2004:
October 1, 2004 – South Piney Oil and Gas Project draft EIS
September 2004 – Rawlins Resource Management Plan Revision – draft
EIS
August 2004 – Seminoe Road Coalbed Methane Project – draft
EIS
August 2004 – Atlantic Rim Coalbed Methane Project – draft
EIS
October 8, 2004 – Pinedale Resource Management Plan Revision – draft
EIS
(dates projected by BLM are subject to continual revision)

When responding to land use planning amendments, such as the Rawlins
and Pinedale Resource Plan Revisions, it is important to identify significant
natural resource areas that are incompatible with the impacts CBM development
will bring and voice your support for those special places where no
CBM development should occur.
