Ski the Loop Road

On Saturday, March 18, 2006, the Wyoming Outdoor Council will once again be sponsoring a ski of the Louis Lake Road (a.k.a. the Loop Road). Join us for this 28-mile ski along the southern edge of the Wind River Mountains through America’s first national forest. In the past, we’ve had both classic skiers and skate skiers along on this adventure, which takes anywhere from four to eight hours to complete.

Construction is slated to begin in the summer of 2006 for the seven-mile portion of the road from Sinks Canyon to Worthen Reservoir. This project will dramatically alter the backcountry nature of the road and may result in the melting out of significant portions of the road surface in future winters. This could be our last winter to ski the Louis Lake Road in its entirety.

Click here to download a registration form. Forms are due by March 13. You can also call call Andy Blair at 307-332-7031 ext. 13 for more information.
