WOC Members Contribute $46,000 to Fund Programs

by Nancy Debevoise

Nearly 350 generous WOC members responded to our year-end donor drive by contributing more than $46,000 to support our important conservation programs.

America's struggling economy, war-time financial uncertainty and individual belt-tightening have all taken their toll on many nonprofit organizations. A number of national, regional and state conservation groups have responded to funding shortfalls by cutting programs and laying off staff.

WOC members, on the other hand, responded to our fundraising appeal with an outpouring of financial support. More than 25% of current members made special year-end gifts totaling $13,300, and nearly 60% of renewing members made contributions totaling $26,750. Seventy-three lapsed members rejoined WOC, and we welcomed 18 new members.

Another appeal, sent to High Country News subscribers and members of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, attracted 95 new WOC members.

Your commitment and generosity make it possible for WOC to effectively challenge unprecedented threats to Wyoming's treasured wild places, world-renowned wildlife, clean water, clear skies and quality of life. Thank you!
