WOC Board Welcomes Dean Johnson

In February, WOC’s board of directors welcomed Dean Johnson as its newest member.

A construction and maintenance foreman for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, Dean brings a fresh perspective to the board.

"I work on the ground — literally — for a company that makes hundreds of millions of dollars from the state’s natural resources," says Dean, "and I have a genuine concern for the healthy future of those resources." Dean looks forward to helping WOC "represent the concerns of people who regard Wyoming’s environmental quality as one of its most valuable resources."

With bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Fine Arts, Dean has also worked as a professional artist, winning numerous state, regional and national commissions, grants and fellowships, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.

"On a practical level, living in Cheyenne, I have easy access to state agencies and elected officials," Dean notes. "In the past, I’ve lobbied for art-related issues, and I look forward to getting involved in the legislative process again on behalf of WOC and the citizens of Wyoming."

An avid camper, hiker and hunter, Dean says he chooses to live in Wyoming because of its extraordinary natural beauty. "As a board member, I will do whatever I can to help conserve and protect the natural landscapes and environmental quality of the state I love."
