WOC Nuclear Publication Receives National Recognition

WOC’s 1998 publication, Nuclear Jeopardy: A Citizen’s Guide to Understanding HighLevelRadioactive Waste in Wyoming, recently received national recognition in a review published by Counterpoise,a quarterly review journal of the American Library Association’s Social Responsibilities Round Table. The WOC publication, researched and written by Program Director Steff Kessler, details legal, regulatory, economic, political and transportation-related concerns about a proposed high level nuclear waste facility in Wyoming.

The Counterpoisereview concluded: "Though focused on Wyoming, much of the information in Nuclear Jeopardy, including the extensive references, can be applied to any other state being considered for such facilities. And there will undoubtedly be other sites investigated — some people in the nuclear power industry will not give up on their attempts to get dangerous nuclear wastes out of their own backyard and sent anywhere else."

We couldn’t agree more!
